Maximilian Klemme
Operations Manager
When you talk to Maximilian Klemme, you immediately feel well taken care of. His calm, unflappable, and friendly demeanor immediately captivates you, almost surprising considering the extensive scope of his responsibilities. These include not only the complete coordination of service providers – ranging from personnel to furniture and decorations to ship inquiries – but also all operational activities within the company, such as maintenance, improvements, and innovations that are carried out.
Since February 2022, he has been the man in charge of the operational business. While at the beginning of his employment he was also involved in project management, he now primarily focuses on production, although he still exchanges ideas with his colleagues Alisa and Pia from the project team. He also takes on some projects entirely, such as the Camunda Hackathon.
As a trained restaurant and hotel specialist, he has been working in the events industry for many years, most recently for five years as the head of the Orangerie at Charlottenburg Palace. But then came the Corona pandemic – a difficult time for Max, as for many others in the events industry.
However, he found a new contact in his circle of friends: a table designer from England. Max got to work and built up the entire sales program for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. “Somehow, everyone was at home and needed a new table,” Max laughs.
You can tell that doing nothing is not for him; he needs a task to grow. WECC provides him with ample opportunities for this. “Every day is different. Sometimes in the evening, you can’t even remember what you did during the day because it’s so diverse!” Max recounts.
He particularly enjoys recalling one event. For an international expert conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine under German G7 presidency in 2022, high-ranking personalities gathered at Westhafen. “Many different areas in the port were used, and we had to coordinate and manage everything,” Max almost gushes. With the required security, it was not an easy task, but Max and the entire Westhafen team mastered it brilliantly.
What does it take to succeed in this profession? For Max, it’s “a good memory.” Apart from notes, he doesn’t use tools to make his daily work easier. It’s more about the right mindset. “You have to be stress-resistant, set priorities, and organize them accordingly.”
Even though he carries a lot of responsibility, you won’t notice any stress in him. A smile comes easily to his lips. WECC seems tailor-made for him. The wide range of tasks, the special location by the water. “It’s just beautiful here!” confirms Max. The enthusiastic sailor enjoys being by the water. And water is said to have a calming effect. The perfect environment for Max’s dynamic work environment.
